Have you seen the TV show, Biggest Losers? Have you seen the episode where they go back and discover former winners have put all their unwanted weight back on. Have you seen the tabloid pictures of Kirstie Alley after Jenny Craig? Does the mere idea of going on another diet make you weak in the knees? Do you diet, lose weight and then put it right back on? Have you exercise regularly…to no avail? Are you on the diet roller coaster? Does your family make excuses for those extra pounds that go something like this, "Oh, everyone in our family is big boned"? If any of this sounds a little too close to home, I’ve got good news for you. With the aid of hypnosis and NLP, goal setting and affirmations, you can re-create yourself as a person who is in perfect control of his or her body. Discover the mind/body connection and Imagine Yourself Thin! I have many clients who tell me that even after our sessions are over, they continue to maintain desired body weight with self-hypnosis. (All hypnosis is self-hypnosis.) It is simply a matter of learning how to use visual imagery and melt the pounds off. The mind has the power to change the body's actions and reactions. You simply program your brain like you might program your computer and the body follows suit. No it’s not magic. Though sometimes it seems that way. The cold truth is that the formula for losing weight is, and always will be the same: calories in – calories burn with exercise = weight loss or gain, but losing weight does not have to be painful, require special diet foods, or cause you to make major changes in your daily routine. I always encourage clients to talk to their doctor before changing their diet or exercise routine. It's also a great idea to see a professional dietitian to be sure you are eating enough, of the right foods at the right time. I think this is important because of my own experience. My dietitian told me that I was starving myself into being overweight and added 1,000 calories to my daily diet and I lost 30 pounds by effortlessly sticking to the program with hypnosis. Many doctors who work with overweight patients now understand that the most important factor in weight loss is not only diet. What's more important are the changes that need to take place in behavior, attitude and self-image in order to take it off and keep it off. A very small percentage of people who lose weight will keep it off after one year. The weight goes back on because the person did not alter the self-image and hidden emotional drivers were not addressed by diet and will power alone. Most people quite their diet still thinking of themselves as a fat person and they behave like one. People, who successfully change their bodies for good, act, eat, dress and behave like a thin person. They don’t feel deprived and they don’t continue emotional eating. Effective body weight management is about life style. You can have the body that you want, be healthier, and look great without stress. HYPNO-NEWSLETTER – February 2010
______________________________________________________________ Ask Me Anything Recently I saw a client at a social gathering. Afterward she sent me this question: "I didn't want to ask this in front of the group, but can you work with people who have "trust" issues? It is a problem I've had most of my life, both with males and females. I didn't know if that was something that what you do can fix." Here is my answer: I don't really fix people, I actually help them to find new ways to use the resources they already have, but yes, issues of trust, grief, motivation, anger, passion, you name it, are all brought about by our life experience. They are all normal emotions that sometimes get out of balance. The inner mind always works to find the best strategy to keep us safe and in balance. The trouble is that we outlive their usefulness, or they were simple not our best solution then or now. What I do is work with the images, sounds, and feelings that a person has and help them to reframe the concepts that are holding them back and help them to develop new and more useful strategies for living. I will be happy to work with you in any way to help you to be the most productive and happy person that you can be. I look forward to seeing you soon.
